EXIT-READINESS SELF-CHECK

Where does your
business stand?

Answer ten questions about how your business runs. See an immediate directional score and suggested priorities—without entering your name or email. This is a self-reported planning tool, not a valuation or a prediction of a sale.

YOUR ANSWERS. YOUR STARTING POINT.

The score uses ten equally weighted questions. Select the answer that best reflects normal operations today—not your plans. When you are unsure, choose “Not yet / unsure.”

0 of 10 questions answered

1. Can your team produce consistent monthly financial statements and explain the results?

Focus on a repeatable close and records that reconcile—not a spreadsheet assembled for a meeting.

2. Can normal daily operations continue without your involvement?

Think about sales, scheduling, approvals, customer issues, and cash collection.

3. Does a capable team member own each critical operating function?

Responsibilities should be explicit, with a backup where the role is critical.

4. Are your essential workflows documented and used by the team?

Documentation matters only when people follow it and keep it current.

5. Do you understand customer concentration, retention, and the reasons customers stay?

This is visibility into risk and performance—not a fixed concentration threshold.

6. Is the sales pipeline visible, with consistent ownership and follow-up?

An owner’s private inbox should not be the only source of pipeline information.

7. Are your key systems connected, access-controlled, and understandable to more than one person?

Include account ownership, integrations, backups, and documentation.

8. Can you measure capacity, service quality, and profitability at a useful operating level?

Use the level appropriate to your business: jobs, contracts, teams, or service lines.

9. Are important contracts, licenses, policies, and company records organized and current?

A readiness check is not a legal or compliance audit.

10. Have you defined your target timing, post-exit role, and acceptable transaction trade-offs?

Consider cash at closing, continuing involvement, rollover equity, and contingent payments.

How the score works

Each question is scored 0, 1, or 2. The total is divided by 20 and multiplied by 100. “Not yet / unsure” receives zero. A score of 0–39 is labeled “Foundations to build,” 40–69 “Focused improvement,” and 70–100 “Stronger foundations.” These thresholds are editorial planning categories, not empirically validated acquisition standards. Suggested priorities come from your three lowest-scoring answers; ties follow the question order. Version: readiness-v1.
